National Voter Registration Day


The Richmond County Board of Elections would like to remind the public that Tuesday, September 22, 2015 is National Voter Registration Day and encourages all citizens to take this opportunity to register to vote or to update their voter registration information, if needed.


On November 3, 2015 registered voters in Augusta-Richmond County will have the opportunity to participate in an election for the reimpostion of the existing 1% Sales and Use Tax and residents of the Cities of Blythe and Hephzibah will also be voting for representatives to their respective city councils. The voter registration deadline for these elections will be Monday, October 5, 2015.

In order to be eligible to vote in the State of Georgia applicants must be a citizen of the United States, be a legal resident of the county in which they are registering to vote, must be at least 17 1⁄2 years of age at the time of registration and 18 years of age by the time they can vote, may not be actively serving a felony sentence, and may not have been found to be mentally incompetent by a judge.

Elections Director, Lynn Bailey stated “Registering to vote and updating your information in Georgia is easier than ever. Citizens now have the option of registering not only in person at the local Board of Elections Office, but also by downloading the free mobile app GA Votes available for IPhone or Android phones or by using the online application available at Georgia’s My Voter Page at www.mvp.sos.ga.us. “
