Culinary Arts Students Graduating

AUGUSTA, GA (PR) - The Helms College, Augusta Campus, will celebrate the success of its culinary arts students with a graduation ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26.

Two dozen students will receive culinary arts diplomas during the commencement exercise at the Snelling Center on the Helms College campus, at 3165 Washington Road at Fury’s Ferry Road. In addition, two students will receive recognition for earning GEDs through Helms Continuing Education.

This will be the third graduating class from the Helms College, Augusta Campus.

“We’re very proud of our graduates and their hard work in completing a challenging program in culinary arts,” said Dr. Shannon McGhee, Director of Student Services for Helms College. “Most of our students are already employed in their chosen career field before graduation, so this ceremony provides us with an opportunity to recognize their achievement while reinforcing their connection with Helms College as alumni.”

The keynote speaker for commencement will be Certified Master Chef John Johnstone, Director of Club Operations for the Augusta National Golf Club.

Helms College, founded in 2007 in Macon by Goodwill and expanded in 2012 to Augusta, is nationally accredited and its programs are eligible for Title IV funding, with financial aid available for those who qualify. Approval is pending for Helms College, Augusta Campus, to offer GI Bill funding and Associate Degree programs starting this spring.

Enrollment is underway for the next quarter start on April 13.
