First Hispanic Superior Court in Georgia


ATLANTA, GA (PR) - Following Governor Nathan Deal's appointment of Dallas lawyer Dean Bucci to the Superior Court within the Paulding Judicial Circuit, the Georgia Republican Party issued the following statements:


"Well-qualified, competent, and community-focused, Dean Bucci's appointment to the Superior Court sends a clear message to minority communities throughout Georgia that Governor Deal is working to give all Georgians a voice within state government," said Leo Smith, Minority Engagement Director for the Georgia Republican Party.  "As the first Hispanic Superior Court Judge in Georgia, Mr. Bucci will offer fresh perspective and insight while serving his community in a fair but firm manner.

"We applaud Governor Deal for his bold leadership and congratulate Dean Bucci on this momentous honor."

Bucci will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable James R. Osborne. The appointment will take effect upon swearing in.

Bucci is a partner with the firm Plumley & Bucci, LLC in Dallas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University and a law degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife have two children and reside in Dallas.

Dean C. Bucci obtained his B.B.A. degree in Economics and B.A. degree in Spanish from Georgia Southern University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude.

Dean has held membership in several bar associations and is currently a member of the Paulding County Bar Association, which he has served as President. He is licensed to practice law in all Georgia Courts. He is a member of the State Bar’s Family Law Section. He served as Chairman of the State Bar of Georgia YLD Committee on Ethics and Professionalism and has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Professionalism Committee. He also serves the State Bar of Georgia as a Special Master in attorney disciplinary cases.

Dean currently serves on local boards such as the Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s Paulding County Board and on the board of Shepherd’s Rest Ministries. In the past he served on the Advisory Board of Paulding CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and as the Juvenile Court Liason for MAP (Meth Alliance Paulding). Dean served as Associate Judge of the Paulding County Juvenile Court. Dean regularly volunteers his time and skills to support Legal Aid.

Dean has practiced law since 1997 and located his practice in Paulding County in 2001. He has served as Paulding County Conservator and Administrator since 2004. As such, he is regularly appointed by the Paulding County Probate Court to administer estates and to serve as conservator to minors and incapacitated adults.

Mr. Bucci specializes in domestic relations litigation, including divorce, alimony, child support, child custody, contempt of court, family violence protective orders, and adoptions. He devotes a significant portion of his practice to serving as Guardian ad Litem to minor children involved in child custody proceedings.

Dean resides in Dallas, Georgia with his wife and two children. He has coached children’s baseball and soccer through YMCA. He and his family are members of West Ridge Church, where Dean has served as a volunteer in the children’s ministry.
