Stolen Truck as a Weapon to Burglarize Businesses

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a pattern of similar cases in which a truck is stolen and then later used to force entry into a business for the purpose of burglarizing the business.
On Sunday January 26, 2014 between 0045 hours and 0120 hours a blue and white 1992 Ford Pickup was stolen from 1830 Heathers Way.

That vehicle was used on January 26, 2014 at 0234 hours to force entry into the Citgo station located at 3735 Mike Padgett Highway and Newport cigarettes were stolen, along with trying to unsuccessfully remove the ATM (reference case# 2014-018813). The same vehicle was used at Rack and Grill II located at 3801 Mike Padgett Highway at 0215 hours to force entry into the business, however after trying to take the ATM they were unsuccessful and the vehicle broke down and was left at the scene.

Between Wednesday January 29, 2014 at 2200 hours and Thursday January 30, 2014 a red and white 1987 Ford Pickup was stolen from 2024 McDade Road (reference case# 2014-021242). On Thursday January 30, 2014 at 0148 hours the truck was used to force entry into the Manna Food store located at 2218 Rosier Road and the ATM was taken.

Between Wednesday February 5, 2014 at 2100 and Thursday February 6, 2014 at 0645 hours a gold 1993 Ford F350 was stolen from 3004 Jeanne Road (reference case# 2014-026441). On Friday February 7, 2014 at 0320 hours the truck is used to force entry into Goshen Grocery located at 1657 Goshen Road and nothing was taken, however the ATM was knocked over and covered by debris.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to notify the Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080 or the Criminal Investigative Division at 706-821-1020 with any information that could assist in these burglaries. Callers may remain anonymous.
