Closed Offices and Ice on the Roads in Augusta

Area Re-opened:
·         FLYOVER BRIDGES I-20 AND 1-520 HAVE BEEN REOPENED. Salt and sand have been put down, use caution if traveling.

AUGUSTA, Ga – Information from the Emergency Operations Center. Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Deputy has reported ice on the road at the following additional locations:

·         Tobacco Rd at Hwy 1 is iced over and impassable
·         Skinner Mill Rd at Boy Scout Rd has light ice in the curve
·         Windsor Spring Rd at Cross Creek Rd both directions are iced over and impassable
·         Northbound and Southbound Hwy 56 at South Barton Dr. and North Barton Dr. several
          vehicles in the ditch due to icy, slippery roads
·         Windsor Spring Rd Northbound and Southbound lanes between Woodlake and
           Meadowbrook Dr. are iced over and impassable, road has been closed
·         Jackson Rd. iced over and impassable
·         Willis Foreman Rd between Hwy 1 and Hwy 25 iced over and impassable
·         Wheeler Rd between Boy Scout Rd. and Aumond Rd. iced over
·         Hwy 25 at Boykin Rd. iced over and impassable
·         Bridge at Richmond Hill Road over I-520 has ice build up
·         Berckmans Rd. to Highland Ave and Berckmans Rd to Washington Rd is iced over and
          impassable
·         Wheeler Rd from Wheeler at Berckmans Rd and Wheeler at Aumond Rd is iced over
·         Mike Padgett Hwy south of Phinizy Rd at the bridge is iced over and impassable
·         I-20 at the SC State Line ice accumulating and getting slippery
·         Furrys Ferry Rd. and Riverwatch ice accumulating and getting slippery
·         Buildup of ice at 15th Street and Central Ave
·         3800 block of Wrightsboro Rd ice accumulating and getting slippery
·         I-20 fly over bridges are CLOSED at this time
·         Old Waynesboro Rd bridge just before Goshen is completely iced over and impassable
·         Detours are set up at Wheeler Rd and I-20 and Washington Rd and I-20 for I-20 and I-520
          interchanges
·         Deans Bridge Rd south of Tobacco Rd are iced up
·         Richmond Hill Rd. bridge over I-520 iced over
·         Gordon Hwy at North Leg Rd is iced over
·         2500 block of Walton Way is iced over
·         Johns Rd at Russell St are iced over
·         Bridges south of Deans Bridge Rd to the Burke & Jefferson County lines are iced over
·         Windsor Spring Rd at I520 overpass
·         I520 overpass and Peach Orchard Rd. (Hwy 25)
·         Morgan Rd. at Tobacco Rd.
·         John C. Calhoun is completely shut down at this time
·         Riverwatch Parkway bridges are building up ice
·         All I-20 bridges are iced over
·         All I-520 bridges are iced over
·         Warren Rd. Bridge is iced over
·         Peach Orchard and Richmond Hill Rd is building up ice


These areas are being addressed at this time. We will continue to monitor conditions and send out updates as we receive them.

ALL AUGUSTA RICHMOND COUNTY OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED ON WEDNESDAY

AUGUSTA, Ga., January 28, 2014– Due to the continued deteriorating weather conditions, all Augusta Richmond County offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Public safety employees and departments responsible for responding to the current emergency conditions should report per their usual schedule.

There will not be any Transit services on Wednesday.

All non-emergency travel is strongly discouraged due to deteriorating conditions. Citizens are strongly encouraged to remain at home until conditions improve.
