Roundtable for Immigration Reform

Bibles, Badges and Business, a non-profit organization that is supportive of the comprehensive immigration reform efforts currently happening in Washington DC., is organizing at the Columbia County Library a roundtable on the issue on August 13 at 3P.M. NOTE: The organizer didn't even call the Library to let know folks that they decided to cancel the event.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On the verge of a critical August recess in the House of Representatives, leaders in the law enforcement and business communities announced their support for meaningful immigration reform in separate letters to Congress.

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), which exclusively represents more than 26,000 federal law enforcement officers from more than 65 agencies, urged the House of Representatives to consider the Senate immigration bill and move forward with legislation that protects the rule of law.

Additionally, an ad-hoc coalition  of 431 businesses and advocacy organizations, including the American Farm Bureau Federation, Google Inc., the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Immigration Forum, wrote to Congress to emphasize that effectively modernizing our immigration system will fuel economic activity, create lasting jobs and opportunities for all Americans and weaken criminal enterprises. New innovations and businesses will arise, and simultaneously, law enforcement officers will have the ability to be more effective, the coalition wrote.

The letters precede a busy August recess for the nation’s Bibles, Badges and Business leaders, who are planning dozens of Roundtables for Reform and similar events in key congressional districts nationwide.

“The law enforcement and business communities understand that commonsense immigration reform is imperative. It will help grow our economy and keep our communities safe,” said Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum. “With a critical August recess just around the corner, momentum for reform continues to build in Washington and across the country.”

Bibles, Badges and Business for Immigration Reform (BBB) as a national network of faith, law enforcement and business leaders working together to educate and support members of Congress as they consider reforms to our immigration system. With their unique perspectives, this network of allies has become driving force in the immigration debate, according to its officials.
