Augusta Read a Ton

"The Augusta Literary Festival (ALF) was designed with the community in mind. It doesn't matter if you are involved with the community of the Arts, community of book lovers, community of aspiring writers, or the community at large; this is your event.

Since Augusta has seen such tremendous growth since the new millennium, it was only natural that it should host its own literary festival. The AFL looks to be the preeminent cultural event, that keeps pace with the bustling literary scene in the Central Savannah River Area.

As Augusta grows, so will the ALF. Above all, we should remember that the primary purpose of both the ALF and the Augusta Public Library System, is to promote literacy and education. All other ventures are secondary. If this mind set envelops the overall spirit of the ALF, then it will always thrive and be a success."
