Remembering 9/11

12th Congressional District candidate Lee Anderson released the following statement: "It is difficult to believe that it has been more than a decade since the terrorist attacks of September 11th.

Just the mention of that day brings back vivid memories of the sights and sounds from Ground Zero.  Yet as evil rained down on American soil, I am reminded of how quickly beauty rose up from its ashes.  The American spirit of strength and patriotism was expressed at every turn, as emergency responders rushed to the scene and everyday Americans performed simple acts of heroism throughout the weeks and months that followed.

It is clear that at the heart of America is a profound sense of hope for the future, and despite the troubles of today, we, as Americans, always believe that our best and brightest days are ahead.

On this solemn occasion, I hope that you will join me in remembering those who perished on September 11, 2001 and the families that they left behind.

I also hope you will join me in praying for our American heroes in uniform who are fighting today at home and abroad to protect our country and our allies.

May we never forget that we live in a country of hope and opportunity because of those who have given their lives for the sake of our freedom and prosperity.  Let us live lives worthy of their sacrifice."
