Law and Order in Richmond County

AUGUSTA, GA - Waynesboro Police Chief Alphonso Williams is among those Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) law enforcement executives who believes Capt. Scott Peebles is the "best candidate" to run the Richmond County Sheriff Office (RCSO). Chief Williams announced the endorsement to Peebles campaign for Sheriff representing the Georgia Chapter Region 7 of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) which did not have the backing of the national office.

Endorsements are good, especially if members of the organization actually are registered voters where the candidate is running. Even better if they vote. Otherwise is a "misstep." Most candidates expect with an endorsement some campaign donations.

To make more interesting the promising future of the law and order in Augusta, voters are asking themselves which laws are going to be enforced and who will give the orders.

Republican Rick W. Allen, owner of one of the major construction companies in the area and builder of the infamous Trade, Exhibit and Event (TEE) Center  and the embattled Parking Deck. With taxpayers money and "air rights" endorsements if elected in November Allen will be a lawmaker representing District 12 in Congress. His campaign signs proclaim very clear that he is not a politician, therefore he is so ready to do conservative business in Congress.

At this point of the race, we don't know who will be the Sheriff in Richmond County, but whoever is elected will enjoy the new big box, TEE Center, a taxpayers "gift" to Allen and the Augusta Riverfront, LLC and other beneficiaries.

Coincidence or not, the 39,000-square-foot facility connected to the existing 49,000 square-foot city conference center and managed by the Marriott Hotel, will host the first organization convention on January 23, 2013 for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.

The new exhibit hall at 901 Reynolds St. will be finished by January 2013, according to media reports.
